Alan David Roufa, age 77, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 31, 2020, at Good Samaritan Village in Kissimmee. A native of St. Louis, Missouri, he was born on November 7, 1942, to the late Alvin M. and Jean Berger Roufa. Alan received his Bachelor's degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology and served in the National Guard. On July 4, 1965, in Chicago, he married the former Mary Kessler, his wife of nearly 55 years, who survives him. Alan worked as a Manager in the printing industry. He served as President of the Jewish Federation of Lancaster (PA) and Gabbai of Temple Beth El in Lancaster. They relocated to the Orlando area from Lancaster in 1998 and became active members of Southwest Orlando Jewish Congregation. He also served as the first Gabbai for SOJC. In addition to his wife, Alan is survived by his son Michael (Rachel) Roufa of Seattle and his daughters Michelle Roufa (Rabbi Eliahu Teitz) of New York City and Sharon Roufa (Dale Banks) of Homer, Alaska. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren and his brother, Barry Roufa of St. Louis. Due to the Covid19 Corona virus, a private graveside funeral will be held at Ohev Shalom Cemetery with Rabbi Orrin Krublit and Cantor Doug Ramsay of SOJC officiating.
