Harold L. "Hank" Greenberg, MD, passed away peacefully at home in Longwood FL on July 13, 2021. Hank was born on July 16, 1938, in Tampa FL to the late Sam and Rita Stanler Greenberg. He is survived by his loving wife of 28 year, Norma Brand Greenberg; his children, Julie Greenberg, Aharon Lawrence Greenberg, Rebecca Greenberg, Janet Keadle (Wayne), Rita Greenberg-Moynihan (Chris); his stepchildren, Michael Brank (Beth), Becky Brand Arruda (Tom); his 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; his sister Marlene Steinberg (Ralph); and other family members and dear friends.
Hank was a United States Air Force Veteran. He served during the Vietnam War era. He received his undergraduate degree from Emory University and his medical degree from the University of Miami Medical School. He spent his professional career, beginning in 1971, treating patients of Cardiology and Internal Medicine in Winter Park and Maitland FL. He ended his career treating military veterans at the Orlando VA Hospital. During those years, he was also incredibly active in the community as an Adjunct Professor at the UCF Medical School; President, Orange County Medical Society; President, American Heart Association, Orlando Chapter; President, Temple Israel Synagogue; Florida Medical Association - Chairman, Political Action Committee; Fellow of American College of Physicians; Shriner, Bahia Shrine Temple.
Outside of work, he enjoyed many interesting hobbies such as horseback riding, skiing, and traveling. He was a farmer on his Christmas Tree Plantation, a beekeeper, and a UF and UCF sports sponsor. He and Norma attended many games for both schools through the years, in addition to kids and grandkids track meets, cheer competitions, soccer and baseball games. Hank had a passion for lifelong learning, constantly reading and continued to attend medical conferences through 2021. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife and family. His presence will forever be missed.
