Henry Armand Alstein, age 99, of Longwood, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, January 30, 2019. Mr. Alstein was born in Paris, France, on November 11, 1919, one of six children born to the late Abraham and Esther Kosovsky Alstein. During the Holocaust he served in the French Army, was interned and later transferred to a concentration camp. Following the war, he married his late wife, Yvonne, and moved to Israel until relocating to the United States in 1960. In New York, Mr. Alstein initially worked as a presser in the garment industry, later working in the hotel business as a clerk. He remained in New York until 2013, moving to the Orlando area to be closer to family. Mr. Alstein is survived by his sons Gilbert (Minna) Alstein of Longwood and Alain (Lily) Alstein of Raleigh NC and seven grandchildren - Adam, Hannah, Jacob, Jared, Jason, Jeremy and Jordan, and his last surviving sibling, Rachelle Mathes of Brooklyn.
Graveside funeral services and interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Saddlebrook NJ on Monday, February 4, 2019, at 11 AM.
