Jacqueline Shapiro Opotzner, age 96, affectionately known as Jackie O, of Lake Mary, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2019, at Brookdale Senior Living in Lake Mary. She was born in Bridgeport CT on September 25, 1922, to the late Benjamin and Jennie Sachs Shapiro. A resident of Shelton CT for over 60 years, she relocated to the Orlando area in 2017 to live near her older daughter, Susan Witt. Jackie was a graduate of Bessick High School in Bridgeport CT and the Butler Business School paralegal program. She strongly believed in the importance of education and was proud of her children's advanced degrees.
Jackie was a person of humility, who worked hard alongside her husband, Milton, in the family's Elite Bakery, formerly in Shelton CT. She was an active member of Beth Israel Synagogue in Derby CT. Jacqueline was also a Past President of Hadassah and served on the Connecticut Regional Board.
Jacqueline is survived by her son Robert (Wendy) Opotzner of Ridgefield CT and her daughters Susan (Richard) Witt of Lake Mary and Joan (Jayson) Brustman of Scarsdale NY. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jonathan (Amy) Witt of Maitland; Jessica Opotzner and Matthew Opotzner of Ridgefield CT; and Allison Brustman and Marci Brustman of Scarsdale NY and two great-grandchildren Liliana Witt and Penelope Witt.

Locally, there will be a Shiva Minyan on Monday, March 25, from 7 to 9 PM at the home of Susan and Richard Witt, 153 Springhurst Circle, Lake Mary.
