John Salomon "Johnny" Blum, age 69, passed away peacefully at AdventHealth Hospice in Altamonte Springs on Saturday, August 31, 2019. He was born on November 13, 1949, in Sousa, Dominican Republic, the son of Hella Dora Codik and the late Max Blum, both European refugees. He was the 100th Jewish baby born in the Sousa Dominican Republic colony. The family emigrated to the United States and Johnny became a US Citizen in 1961.
Johnny was the owner/operator of a warehouse equipment company.
On December 28, 1997, in Miami Beach, he married the former Edith Abusch, his wife of nearly twenty-two years who survives him. They relocated to the Orlando area from Pembroke Pines in 2017.
In addition to his wife, Johnny is survived by his mother, Cella, of Pompano Beach; his son, Ari (Claudia) Blum of Louisville and daughter, Cara (Jesse) Cohen of Boca Raton and Edith's daughter and son Sarah Elizabeth Smith and Joshua Warren Smith. He was the proud grandfather of Gabriella, Misha, Charlie, Sadie, Ari (AJ) and Riley. John's brother, Edward (Ilene) Blum of Boulder CO, also survives him.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September, 5, 2019, at Congregation of Reform Judaism, 928 Malone Drive, Orlando 32810, at 12 Noon, with Rabbi Steven W. Engel officiating. Interment will follow at Congregation of Reform Judaism Cemetery at Woodlawn.
