Marcia Rita Halperin, age 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 30, 2021, at her residence. The only child of the late Rose and Leonard Grossman, she was born in Brooklyn, New York, on June 9, 1935. She attended school there and worked in her parents' women's clothing store. At a wedding, Marcia met Walter Halperin and they married six months later on December 25, 1955. It was a love affair that would last more than 64 years. They lived in Brooklyn where two of their children were born before moving to Long Island. In 2013, they relocated to Orlando.
Marcia was a woman of varied interests and talents - an artist, knitter, and pianist; president of her local ORT chapter; hospital volunteer and mah jong player. But more than anything, she was all about family. An inveterate traveler, she traveled with her children and grandchildren until she was no longer physically able to do so.
Marcia is survived by her daughter Shelley (Fred) Rudin, sons Larry (Susan) Halperin and Alan (Wendy) Halperin and grandchildren Laurie Rudin, Brian (Sheena) Rudin, Ally Halperin (Farrar Hudkins), Daniel Halperin, Samantha (Aaron) Mandel, Noah Halperin, Emily Halperin, Oscar Halperin, and Isaac Halperin. She is also survived by her great-grandson Benjamin.
In memory of Marcia Halperin, the family requests contributions to the Pearlman Pantry - Jewish Family Services, 2100 Lee Road, Winter Park FL 32789.
A private graveside service will be held at Congregation of Reform Judaism Cemetery with Rabbi Steven Engel and Cantor Bryce Megdal officiating.
