It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gary Mayer, formerly of Hopewell Junction, NY, and most recently of Longwood, FL. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Gary attended the Brooklyn College of Pharmacy before embarking on a career as a pharmacist. He later channeled his entrepreneurial spirit into founding several successful businesses in New York's Mid-Hudson Valley, including A Copy A Second, Appetite Control Centers, and Culinary Diet Shoppe.
A lifelong baseball enthusiast, Gary cherished the sport, lamenting the departure of the Dodgers from Brooklyn while remaining a loyal fan of the New York Mets. His sharp wit, sense of humor, and devotion to family will be deeply missed.
Gary was a devoted husband to Linda Mayer, his beloved wife of 49 years (predeceased), a loving father to Susan Zimmon (Robert Bernal) and Bill Mayer (Melissa), and a proud grandfather to Jessica, Allison (deceased), Melissa, Sam, and Sabrina.
Graveside services for Mr. Mayer will be held Monday, November 25, 2024 at 8:30 AM at Congregation Ohev Shalom Cemetery (6034 Old Winter Garden Road, Orlando, FL) with Rabbi David Kay officiating. Shiva Minyan will be held that evening at the home of Susan Zimmon at 6:30 p.m. May he rest in peace and may his memory always be a blessing.
In honor of Gary’s memory, donations may be made to Friends of the IDF or the Allison Taylor Zimmon Foundation.
Services entrusted to Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel, 933 Lee Road, Suite 101, Orlando, Florida 407-599-1180.
