Larry Uldis Lapins, age 84, a resident of Altamonte Springs, FL, was born on September 20, 1941 in Riga, Latvia and passed away on August 17, 2026. He was a 1960 graduate of Lake View High School in Chicago, IL and graduated from Hunter College in New York in 1962.
Larry worked over 50 years with Hertz Corporation, climbing the corporate ladder, finally settling down in Altamonte Springs, Fl, as a regional fleet manager.
Coming to the United States from his home country of Latvia, Larry pursued experiences, creating rich memories with the most important girls in his life: Rhandy, Barrie and Lannie. Larry took his family from the ski slopes out west to scuba, snorkel and wind surf in beautiful Hawaii.
Larry was a media enthusiast, investing his energy into high end music and cinema experiences.
Larry was an avid body builder, staying fit and eating healthy were a focus though out his life.
Larry is preceded in death by parents, Alexander & Helga (Salijuma) Lapins; his sisters, Val Kreis and Inara Arias all of blessed memory.
He is survived by his loving life partner of 62 years, Rhandy Turner; his children: Barrie (Rich) Herman of Decatur Georgia; Lannie (Curt) Mathews of Charlotte, North Carolina; two grandsons: Xander Herman of Decatur, Georgia; Mitchell Mathews of Charlotte, North Carolina; one granddaughter: Inara Mathews of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Larry’s Aloha will be held on 10:00 AM, Sunday, October 18, 2026 in the Chapel Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel (835 Lee Road, Orlando, FL) with Rabbi David Kay officiating. The family requests that you wear your best Hawaiian shirt to celebrate him!
