Jill was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Jay, and a proud, loving mother to their daughter, Shelli, who was the light of her life. She was a dear sister to her brother, Jeffrey and sister, Robyn; a caring sister-in-law and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews; and cherished by the many friends and colleagues she has made.
An accomplished and deeply respected teacher, Jill dedicated her life to educating and nurturing hundreds of students over the course of her career. Her classroom was a place of patience, encouragement, and joy, and her influence extended far beyond academics. She formed lasting friendships with dozens of colleagues, students, and their families who admired her kindness, creativity, and strength. She was also an endlessly supportive dance mom and band parent, and was always there for each and every one of Shelli’s friends, too. Those who were lucky enough to know her know just how special and meaningful her support was.
She loved the things that made her happy with immense passion: musicals, Barry Manilow, General Hospital, Disney trips, the Muppets, visits to the needlepoint store, taking in a Dolphins game, and spending time with her grandpup, Bina. She never found any of her interests silly, and encouraged everyone around her to enjoy what brings you joy, no matter what anyone else thinks.
She will be remembered for her generous heart, devotion to those she loved, and the countless lives she touched. Her spirit lives on through her family, friends, students, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
