Adele Banks Dorman ("Bama"), 78, of Fern Park, Florida, passed away on 26 April 2021 in Orlando.
Adele was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, in Druid City Hospital, to Isadore and Rose Banks, on 2 August 1942. She went to high school at Huntsville High and graduated in 1960. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Alabama, in 1964, where she was a member of Delta Phi Epsilon sorority. She worked as a teacher for about 45 years. She was awarded Teacher of the Year for Seminole County in 1984, the same year she earned a Master of Science in Education from Nova University. She was a life member of Hadassah since 1974, earning both a Hadassah Presidential Award and a Huntsville Hadassah Appreciation Award in 1978.
Adele is survived by her husband of 54 years, Neil of Fern Park, Florida, her sons Scott, of Tampa, Florida, and Brian, of Orlando, Florida, her grandsons Nathan, of Tampa, Florida, and Robert, of Orlando, Florida, and granddaughter Sarah, of Orlando, Florida. She is also survived by her brother Morty Banks of Huntsville, Alabama, her nephew Larry Banks, of Huntsville, Alabama, her niece Laurie Attias, of Nashville, Tennessee, her grandnephews Sam Banks, of Huntsville, Alabama, and Jerrod Attias, of Washington, DC, and her grandnieces Jessica Banks of Huntsville, Alabama, and Jordyn Attias, of Nashville, Tennessee. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rose and Isadore Banks.
A graveside service will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville, Alabama.
