Charlotte Schulman, age 97, passed away peacefully at Palomar Medical Center, Escondido CA, on Friday, January 15, 2021. She will be lovingly remembered by her immediate family and friends as Mom, Auntie, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Char and dear friend.

Charlotte, born in New York, on November 1, 1923, was the youngest of five children of the late Dr. Morris and Frieda Deutsch Reichard. Growing up in upstate New York, Charlotte was also a semi-professional ice skater (her mother drove 40 miles twice a week for professional lessons).She was a graduate of George Washington University, Washington DC with a Bachelor's degree in International Studies.

Charlotte met her future husband Albert Schulman when he was visiting and then he took her to a Hanukkah Ball at a Hotel in Washington DC. She married Albert in 1950 and they raised their family in the suburbs of DC. Charlotte and her husband, Albert, relocated to the Orlando area from Rockville MD in 1979, and joined Congregation of Liberal Judaism (now Congregation of Reform Judaism). Albert sadly passed away in 1989.

Charlotte was a Sunday School teacher, avid reader, quilter and artist who painted, sculptured, created beaded flowers and designed bookmarks and Jewish jewelry. Charlotte loved the theatre and enjoyed playing the piano. Charlotte was an active Life Member of Hadassah.

Charlotte remained in the Orlando area until 2009, when she moved to San Diego to be closer to her daughter. Charlotte was a regular at the San Diego Jewish Community Center in UTC, as well as an active member of the San Diego Outreach Synagogue. This past year, Rabbi-Cantor Weiss led personal ZOOM Shabbat services for Charlotte each Friday with beautiful accompanying acoustic guitar by Dan Weiss.

In August 2020, Charlotte displayed over 50 of her paintings and other works of art for her last art show at Felicita Vida Senior Living in Escondido CA.

She is survived by her son, Steven (Joanne), of Baltimore and her daughter, Linda Schulman (James Greenspan), of San Diego and four grandchildren (Adiva (Rachi), Yohanan (Tamar), Alexandra and Zachary) and four great-grandchildren (Aliza, Avi, Shalom, and Aleeza).

A private funeral service will be held at Congregation of Reform Judaism Cemetery, Gotha.
