Dr. George Theodore Adler, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the age of 82. He is survived by his loving wife, Carole, of 59 1/2 years, his children Rachel (Scott) and Jack (Catherine), his grandchildren Allyson, Daniel, Paige, and Lily, and his sister, Helene (Mel).
George was born in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Abraham “Philip” and Laura Adler. He grew up playing the trumpet, which continued into college, where he was part of the University of Vermont Marching Band. After receiving his B.S. there, he continued his studies, earning his M.D. at Columbia University. After residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, he served two years in the Air Force as a physician. George and Carole then took root in Orlando, where George practiced as an OB-GYN for over 40 years. He impacted thousands of families during this time and loved that he brought life into the world. Late in his career, George worked at the VA Clinic, before retiring in 2016. George was well respected in the medical community for his knowledge and expertise and beloved by his patients for his bedside manner, compassion, and kindness.
George loved telling jokes, reading, solving crossword puzzles, genealogy, traveling, and most of all, his family. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Donations can be made to Congregation of Reform Judaism or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at 10:00 AM in the Jacob Yank Frank Memorial Chapel at Temple Israel Cemetery (9302 Morton Jones Road, Gotha) with Rabbi Rachael Jackson and Cantor Bryce Megdal of Congregation of Reform Judaism officiating.
