It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Alan Scott Apte, 59, on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, following a courageous four-year battle with cancer. Alan passed away peacefully, with his loving wife, mother-in-law, and several close friends by his side. He was born and raised in Miami Beach, Florida to the late Stanley & Laura (Freud) Apte of blessed memory.
Alan dedicated his life to the pursuit of justice and service to others through an accomplished legal career spanning decade’s. He attended Emory University and the University of Miami for his undergraduate studies before earning his Juries Doctor from the Shepard Broad College of Law at Nova Southeastern University.
Following law school, He joined the Florida Bar in 1993 and Alan began his legal career as a civil litigator in Miami before relocating to Orlando, where he served as an Assistant State Attorney, known for his professionalism and fairness, before being elected as a Circuit Judge in 2002. During his 18 years on the bench, he served in every division at the Nineth, Associate Judge at the Fifth District Court of Appeal off the bench, he earned the respect and admiration of attorneys, litigants, and fellow judges alike for his fairness, integrity, and unwavering commitment to the law.
Alan’s reputation was not limited to Central Florida, but rather extended throughout the State of Florida. He was elected by his peers to become the president of the Conference of Circuit Judges, - Chair-Elect, Secretary, 5th DCA Representative, and member of the Education Committee, an organization of over 600 circuit judges throughout the state. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Alan embraced life with enthusiasm.
Following his judicial service, Alan founded his own mediation practice, where he continued to help individuals resolve disputes with wisdom, compassion, and professionalism. He was a valued colleague, trusted mentor, and friend to many throughout his career.
He enjoyed golfing, traveling, and spending cherished time at the second family home in Georgia. Above all, he treasured the relationships he built with family and friends, whose lives were enriched by his generosity, and quiet strength. Alan was also a supporter of several charitable and diverse organizations.
Alan is survived by his devoted wife, Julie Pearson of Windermere, Florida; step-sons, Aidan Pearson of Oviedo, Florida; Zachary Pearson of Windermere, Florida; step-daughter, Makenna of Windermere, Florida and his beloved in-laws, who considered him a cherished member of their family. He leaves behind countless friends, colleagues, and former mentees who will remember him for his wisdom and enduring impact on their lives. Above all, he treasured kindness, loyalty, and quiet strength. Alan’s legacy of integrity, compassion, and service will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Alan gave generously of his time and guidance to numerous civic endeavors, including the Hemophiliac Society.
Graveside Service for Alan will be held 1:00 PM, Monday, July 27, 2026 at Mount Nebo Memorial Gardens (5505 NW 3rd St, Miami, FL 33126) with Rabbi Larry Schuval officiating.
A Celebration of Life for Alan will be held in the Orlando area within the next several weeks.
