Miriam Cohen, 95, of Lake Mary, Florida, passed away July 19, 2021, at the age of 95. She was born January 28, 1926, in New York. She married Albert Cohen, of blessed memory, in December, 1948. She is survived by her three children, Gwen Sloan, Cindy Diebel, and David Cohen, their spouses and her two grandchildren, David and Benjamin Sloan.
Miriam's home was always open to her children's friends, her friends and neighbors, and her husband's business associates.
She was an excellent cook and had a talent for creating wonderful meals at a moment's notice. While raising her children, she was the #1 substitute teacher in Monticello NY, and her children never knew when she would appear in their school or their classroom.
A teacher by profession, Miriam always had words of wisdom for her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was very patient and approached life with humor, compassion, and a positive outlook. She had a knack for putting things in perspective with the phrase, "This, too, shall pass." Miriam was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. She and her husband enjoyed golfing and boating.
Miriam dedicated many hours throughout her life to serving the synagogues to which she belonged. She did several stints as Sisterhood President and was the "First Lady" to her husband, Albert, during his stints as synagogue president, first in Monticello NY, and then at Temple Israel in Central Florida.
Funeral services and burial will be on Thursday, July 22, at 10:30 AM at Temple Israel Cemetery, 9200 Morton Jones Road, Gotha 34734, with Rabbi Joshua Neely officiating.
