Aaron Liberman, 83, of Orlando, Florida passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on February 5, 2023.
A private funeral service will be held in the Chapel of Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel with Rabbi David Kay officiating. Interment will follow at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, Florida with military honors.
Aaron Liberman was born in Gary, Indiana to Irwin and Anne Liberman on August 25, 1939. He went to school at Horace Mann Hight School, received his B.A. in Psychology from Baylor University, M.S. in Psychology from Indiana University, and an M.S. and PhD in Hospital Administration from the University of Iowa. He married Joan Schwartz Liberman on July 4, 1964, in Waco, Texas.
During his long and eclectic career, he served in several administrative positions in the healthcare and insurance industries. He was also an author and business owner. His career culminated with his favorite role as Department Chair and Professor Emeritus in the Health Services Administration Department at the University of Central Florida where he taught and mentored countless undergraduate and graduate Health Administration students.
Aaron was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he served from 1959-1963. After retirement, he was involved with the University Club of Winter Park. He was also a lifelong sports and fitness enthusiast, as demonstrated by his lifelong memberships with YMCA and Jewish Community Centers. He and Joanie enjoyed the arts, especially classical music, opera, ballet, and visual arts.
Aaron is survived his wife Joan, his children Jeffrey and Lindy, daughter-in- law Tracy Liberman, son-in-law Brian Zimel, brothers David and Lee, and grandchildren Lauren and Travis Liberman, and Sheela and Ozzy Zimel.
In his final days, Aaron thanked his family and caregivers by telling them, “Thank you for having a kind heart”. Aaron Liberman’s heart was the kindest of all, and he will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and community.
