Michael John Gordon, age 57, of Maitland, Florida, passed away in the early hours of September 14th. He was a loving husband to Reba and devoted father to his pride and joy, Elizabeth.
After graduating from Trinity Preparatory School in Winter Park, Florida, Mike attended Dartmouth College where he studied Economics and channeled his passion for music by working at the college radio station. In both high school and college, Mike was blessed to meet lifelong friends who will always remember his dry humor and unwavering loyalty.
Anyone who met him immediately knew of his love of football and deep knowledge of The Simpsons and all things Marvel. He also passed along his interest in video games to Elizabeth, and they often played online together.
While working towards becoming a successful financial advisor, Mike discovered that he had Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) which led to renal failure. In 2011, he had a kidney transplant and became a vocal supporter of organ donation. After beating the odds for 13 years, his kidney failed. He started dialysis and was put back on the transplant list in 2024. For two years he fought hard to survive for Reba and his daughter, Elizabeth, but his body wasn’t able to hold on.
He is survived by Reba and Elizabeth Gordon. And loved and remembered by his mother Mary Jean Sinkhorn, stepfather Walt Sinkhorn, sister Mitzi Gordon, stepsisters Marie Sinkhorn and Jenni Kniehase, stepmother Mary Newhouse Smith, father-in-law Dr. Stephen Rosenberg, sister-in-law Cathy Rosenberg, brother-in-law Lee Rosenberg, his wife Rabbi Brigitte Rosenberg, nieces Sadie and Zoe Rosenberg, nephew Joe Rosenberg, and all his friends.
Special thanks to all the doctors and nurses and support staff who have cared for him and helped his family through his PKD journey. In lieu of gifts, we ask that you send donations to GR8 to DON8 or the PKD Foundation. Please consider being an organ donor. Mike was able to give two people the gift of sight.
Graveside Inurnment for Mike will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 17, 2026 at Pineywood Cemetery (South Lakemont Avenue & Glenridge Way, Winter Park, FL) with Rabbi David Kay officiating. Following the committal service the family will be receiving friends for Shiva in the Chapel of Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel (835 Lee Road, Orlando, FL) at 1:00 PM. May Mike rest in peace and may his memory always be a blessing.
