Morris passed away peacefully in Orlando, Florida at 96 years old. Morris was born in Burlington, Vermont on 8/21/1926. He was the devoted and loving husband of Mollie Solomon, the father of four children and grandfather of eight. He is survived by his son Harold Solomon, daughter Rochelle Solomon Berman (Steve Berman), son Martin Solomon and son David Solomon (Laura Solomon). Morris is also survived by his 8 grandchildren Andrew Berman, Eric Berman, Gary Berman, Nicholas Solomon, Mark Solomon, Max Solomon, Rachel Solomon, Leah Solomon, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Mollie, and parents Harry Solomon & Anna Block Solomon. Morris was also predeceased by his brothers Alec Solomon, Israel Solomon, Joseph Solomon, Barney Solomon and Hyman Solomon.
Morris was born and raised in Burlington Vermont. He was a World War II veteran in the US Army. After his military service Morris worked many jobs including working as a Bell Hop in a Miami Beach Hotel. There he met Mollie who was vacationing with her family. Morris and Mollie married in December 1951 and remained married for over 69 years until Mollie passed away in September 2021. In 1951 the new couple settled in Burlington, Vermont where they raised their four children until 1973 when the entire family of 6 relocated to Orlando, Florida.
Morris lived a full life and had numerous jobs and businesses throughout his working years. His very first job was eating watermelons in a storefront window in Burlington, Vermont. He was the owner/operator of a drycleaning business for many years in Burlington, Vermont. In Orlando, Florida he was the owner/operator of a restaurant supply business for many years until his retirement.
Morris had many interests. He was a pilot and flew recreationally for many years in Vermont when he was a young man, and attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida. He was an avid motorcyclist and rode from his teens until finally giving up riding at the age of 85. Morris was famous for his joke telling, and he also enjoyed entertaining. Morris occasionally performed for residents of assisted living facilities in the Orlando area. He entertained with his singing, karaoke, and magic tricks. Morris learned to play the piano at 80 years old and played almost until the end. In his retirement years he learned tap dancing and performed on-stage in several musical follies. He will be sorely missed by all who loved and knew him.
Private family services and burial will be held at Congregation of Reform Judaism Cemetery with Rabbi Steven Engel Officiating.
