Alma Lichtenstein DiGloria October 22, 1935 – February 14, 2025 With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Alma DiGloria, who left this world on February 14, 2025, at the age of 89, following a brief illness.
Born in Queens, New York, Alma built a life filled with dedication, service, and love. In 1971, she moved with her family to Orlando, where she became a longtime resident of College Park. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree with Magna Cum Laude honors from Rollins College and pursued a career with AT&T, where she worked in business administration and human factors. After retiring in 1992, she devoted her time to shaping young minds as a part-time elementary school substitute teacher in Orange County.
Alma’s passion for giving back was evident in her extensive volunteer work. She dedicated herself to organizations such as A Gift for Teaching, Guardian Ad Litem, Harbor House, the Orlando Science Center, and the College Park Historical Committee. She was also deeply involved in the Congregation of Reform Judaism (formerly the Congregation of Liberal Judaism), where she served on the Youth and Membership Committees, led youth group activities, and remained a steadfast member of the Social Action Committee, working tirelessly to support the elderly and homeless in Central Florida.
Above all, Alma cherished her family. She is survived by her loving daughters, Beth Higgins (Joseph) and Norma Lorenz (Rick); her four grandchildren, Adam Lorenz (Eliza), Rachel Higgins, Kurt Lorenz (Zholey), and Drew Lorenz, who brought her immense pride and joy.
Alma’s legacy of kindness, dedication, and community service will live on in the many lives she touched.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to A Gift for Teaching, continuing Alma’s lifelong commitment to childhood education.
Graveside Service for Alma will be held Sunday, February 16, 2025 at 4:00 PM at Congregation of Reform Judaism Cemetery (9200 Morton Jones Road, Gotha, FL) with Rabbi Rachael Jackson of Congregation of Reform Judaism officiating.
