Goldie Berman, 86 of Winter Park, Florida passed away in the early morning hours of Monday, May 18, 2026. Goldie was born to Nissim and Emily Mayo on October 10, 1939 in the Bronx, New York. The youngest of 4 children, Goldie grew up a "tom-boy" who was never afraid to mix it up with the other kids on the block. In 1961, Goldie's older sister Victoria, introduced Goldie to Aaron Koller, while he was home on leave from the Navy. The couple hit it off, fell in love and were married 3 months later. That marriage produced 4 boys, Charles, Mark, Richard and Scott, all of whom survive their loving mother. The couple moved their family to North Miami Beach, Florida where they promptly became part of the Jewish community and synagogue Beth Torah. Aaron and Goldie had a small restaurant in Surfside, Florida inside the Surfside Community Center. Unfortunately, Aaron passed away too young in 1977 and Goldie bravely continued to raise her 4 boys by herself, working full time and leaning on the Miami Jewish community. Several years later, and with the help of her girlfriends, Goldie was introduced to Fred Berman and the two fell in love. Fred helped Goldie raise her sons and became part of the fabric of their soon-to-be very large family. Goldie is survived by her husband Fred of 46 years, Sister Vickie, 4 sons, daughters-in-law, and ten grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.
Graveside Service for Goldie will be held 3:00 PM, Thursday, May 21, 2026 at Palm Cemetery (1005 North New York Avenue, Winter Park, Florida) with Cantor Nina Fine officiating and music provided cellist Diane Farrer. May Goldie rest in peace and may her memory always be a blessing.
Service entrusted to Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel, 933 Lee Road, Suite 101, Orlando, Florida 407-599-1180.
