Celebrating the Life of Linda Joyce (Jaffe) Amon May 18, 1945 – November 4, 2026
With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Linda Amon on November 4th, 2026, at the age of 81. Linda was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and a light in the lives of all who knew her. She lived with an open heart and dedicated herself to bringing warmth, comfort, and joy to everyone she met.
Born Linda Joyce Jaffe on May 18th, 1945, in Long Beach, Long Island, Linda was the cherished daughter of the late Sol and Faye Jaffe. She grew up alongside her older brother, the late David Jaffe, and her younger brother, Stephen Jaffe. Linda attended Queens College, where she graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education.
Linda married her childhood crush, Max. The two grew up just blocks apart in the same Long Island neighborhood, and their families remained close over the years. Linda and Max were married in August 1964, sharing more than 62 years of marriage, family, romance, and memories. Max remains her loving and devoted husband.
After moving to Maitland, Florida in 1973, Linda made community an extension of her home. She poured her heart and countless hours into building and nurturing the local Jewish community. She worked as a pre-school teacher at the JCC, and a columnist at the Heritage Jewish News Paper. She was Executive Assistant to the Rabbi at the Congregation for Reform Judaism for over eight years, Adult Services Director at the Jewish Community Center for six years, and Director of Development at Jewish Family Services for more than a decade. Through her work and dedication, she raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for various local Jewish organizations. She served on the board of directors for the Jewish Federation, CRJ, the JCC, the Spouse Abuse Center, and the We Care Crisis Center of Central Florida. Later in life she partnered with her daughter to build her design business.
Linda was known as a community builder, devoted friend and joyful spirit. She had a knack for making people laugh and was known to dress up like a clown named Rainbows, a mermaid, and other themed costumes for festive occasions. She loved her friends and her family and had a natural gift for bringing people together, creating opportunities to gather, connect, and enjoy one another.
Linda is survived by her husband of 62 years, Max Amon of Longwood, Florida; their children Jeffrey Amon of San Diego, California, Philip Amon (Sara Zeigler) of Atlanta, Georgia, and Faith Amon (Scott Thorpe) of Orlando, Florida; as well as her adored grandchildren, Gabriella Amon, Joshua Zeigler-Amon, and Catherine Zeigler-Amon and her cherished brother Stephen Jaffe (Larry Jones) of Asheville, North Carolina.
